Kenall provided Quality Control services associated with the IHNC-Lake Borgne Surge Barrier. As the largest Design-Build civil works project in the history of the USACE, the IHNC Surge Barrier is part of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System, which reduces the risk of flooding from the 100-year storm surge event. The 1.8-mile-long IHNC Surge Barrier is located at the confluence of the GIWW and the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO), about 12 miles east of downtown New Orleans. The IHNC was awarded ENR’s Best 2011 Civil Works/Infrastructure Project.

Kenall was one of the five testing labs performing Quality Control for this $1.1 billion Design-Build project.
